Booking your newborn session
It’s never to early to book your newborn session, and it’s best to book your newborn session while you are still pregnant(ideally while during your second trimester). I do tend to start booking 6 months in advance, so to avoid disappointment I highly recommend getting in touch well before you are due to meet your baby.
Once you have decided you would love to book with me, I will ask you to read my client booking/agreement form and from there you will receive your invoice and client welcome guide. A $150 non refundable (but transferable) retainer is due at the time of booking to secure your time with Trudi. This is edited from your chosen package. The remaining package is required to be paid in full on or before your session day.
Since babies usually like to arrive in their own time I like to book in your due date and then once baby arrives I ask for you to contact me within 24-48 hours after birth so we can organise your session time. Studio Newborn Sessions are best held within the first 5-14 days after birth and take place in my home studio based in Kirkwood/Gladstone. After this time baby’s become a little harder to settle, and things like baby acne and colic can start to flare up.
Preparing for your newborn session
Please be aware that I recommend trying to schedule bubs feed for around your time of arrival to my home studio(I know this isn’t always possible, so only if you can).
Please dress your baby in something that is loose and easy to take on and off. It’s not necessary to bring any clothes for your baby unless you have something sentimental. As baby’s are best photographed wrapped up and/or naked to create those beautiful images you see in my gallery.
**All props, wraps, baby outfits are supplied here in my studio for your newborn session.
Newborn session time
Studio sessions can take up to 3 hours as I like to keep my sessions completely baby led. You and your baby will not be rushed, we will take time for nursing, nappy changes and settling if needed. Throw a few snacks in your bag, you’re welcome to make a cuppa and sit back and relax while I work my magic.
BABY SAFETY
My TOP priority during your newborn session is “SAFETY FIRST”. Your baby will always be treated with the highest level of care.
As a certified member of the Academy of Newborn Photography, combined with my many years of experience handling newborns, you can be assured that your baby is in safe hands. All of my sessions are baby led, preferring a simple, safe style of newborn photography. I am fully vaccinated, registered, insured and trained in first aid. All items used during shoots are washed and sanitised after each session. These are very important things to consider when choosing your photographer, as the health and safety of your baby is most important.
HYGIENE & COVID SAFETY
The health and wellbeing of my clients is my absolute priority. At the studio we wash hands before and after each session. Studio props are cleaned and sanitised. No shoes are permitted in the studio. Hand sanitiser is used during your session and we can wear a mask upon request. Immediate family only are permitted at the session and we have a no sickness policy so please let us know if you are unwell so we can reschedule. Given the ever changing nature of COVID19, some requirements may alter as advised by QLD Health. Social distancing by all parties is expected to the extent possible during the session.
Family photos with baby
Mum and dad you are a big part of the show. This is my favourite part!!! I usually suggest keeping your outfits to a neutral colour palette, avoiding any logos or distracting pictures or patterns as it keeps your photos classic and timeless. We want to focus to be on your baby and the connection between you all.
